You don't have to live like a refugee...

I remember a vinyl record I used to listen to in GJ's cluttered flatlet, which smelled of eastern spices and unblocked drains, and Tom Petty was very much the power of the day, here in the UK then. GJ was a big fan of Tom's, and his music spoke to us, much as it does today.

This has been a week of uncertainty and spin in my job, where we have seen the emergence of the youngest Prime Minister since 1812 and a somewhat historic and hysterical Lib-Con Coalition - Chaos in fact, and I spin on my own petard, when I think...

"We got somethin', we both know it, we don't talk too much about it
Ain't no real big secret, all the same, somehow we get around it
Listen, it don't really matter to me baby
You believe what you want to believe, you see

You don't have to live like a refugee
(Don't have to live like a refugee)

Somewhere, somehow, somebody must have kicked you around some
Tell me why you will lay there, revel in your abandon
Honey, it don't make no difference to me baby
Everybody has to fight to be free, you see

(Chorus)
You don't have to live like a refugee
(Don't have to live like a refugee)
No baby you don't have to live like a refugee
(Dont have to live like a refugee)

Baby we ain't the first
I'm sure a lot of other lovers been burned
Right now it seems real to you, but it's
One of those things you got to feel to be true

Somewhere, somehow, somebody must have kicked you around some
Who knows maybe you were kidnapped tied up,
Taken away and held for ransom
Honey, it don't really matter to me baby
Everybody has to fight to be free, you see"

I sometimes wonder where I spent my youth, Fhina and how so many things passed by me! Let's all enjoy the Lib-Con love in!

"vinyl records"

Stone Age really. I still have mine stored away. And then came the tapes. Also stored away. CDs now but one day they will be like vinyl records. Quaint.

Yes, momentous days for the Lib-Cons. We shall see how it all plays out. Wouldn't it be great if they really did put aside their differences and served the country well? Yes, well.
