Who do you think you are?

Please watch out for me over at Mad, Manic Mamas this week and last or next or so, if you're looking for a few minor, Fhina-related, Tales of an Empty Nest... I swear, it's getting to me... Grizz has been practically unseen by me since he took his final exam at school last week. He's such a social animal... A gadabout, he is! Truly. Now I wonder where he got that trait from??!

And I find myself in a very odd time...

Please tell me if you've been there, done that, got the Tee shirt and the stains...

He's finding himself. I'm finding myself. I'm about to enrol onto my Stained Glass craft class, starting in the autumn, that I last attended two years ago-ish, before my back gave me such horror that I retreated into a dark world of painkillers, horrid crying, and blog-reading...

Getting back to doing something creative with my hands is something I'm very much looking forward to. Although lugging about heavy bits of glass and metal and all of my craft tools is a bit of a pain in the neck, to be honest. Still, mustn't grumble...

I wish I had more time to devote to being creative, mes bloggy art-veterans.

Instead, I've been researching the Family Trees. What, you ask? What is she up to now, for gawdesses sake?

At Christmas, after a snifter of sherry trifle one crisp and merry evening, I found that I'd signed up for a year's subscription to a Family History records source site... I've pretty much always been interested in family history, but I felt my family was too pedestrian to inspire any real interest...

Yet, I'm already back to 1793 in my husband, GJ's maternal line. Isabella Ireland. What a name! Daughter of a saddler and the town grocer, in Temple Sowerby, Westmorland, as it was then known...

It's Cumbria now.

My family is also there, way back in the Eighteen Seventies - Incroyable... GJ and I could have been kissing cousins, if we hadn't been more careful, je vous jure, I swear!

I need to do more research... I feel me a Thelma and Louise-style road trip coming on!

What makes you tick, mes bloggy census scribes?

Fhina is in the Records Office, and she's transcribing from the original copper-plate script!

Gee I don't know where he got his gad-about gene? Ha!
And family tree research is so interesting! I have never really gotten very far with mine. You have progressed very well with yours.
Good for you
Enjoy the journey!

Well done for embarking on your family tree exploration and for resuming your stained glass classes. I'm sure both will bring you pleasure and new experiences. Can one design stained glass pieces if one can't draw for toffee?!

Good good luck with your search Ffina.I started mine, but with so many Smiths came to a dead stop. Must have hundreds of second and third cousins on my dad's side...all Smiths. As JP always says 'eh beh!' phonetic spelling and I guess it means 'what can you do?

Something I wrote earlier...
