For Love of Mr Keats (and a belated good-bye to Mr Rafferty)...

On a Dream

by John Keats

(1795-1821)

As Hermes once took to his feathers light,
When lulled Argus, baffled, swoon’d and slept,
So on a Delphic reed, my idle spright
So play’d, so charm’d, so conquer’d, so bereft
The dragon-world of all its hundred eyes;
And seeing it asleep, so fled away,
Not to pure Ida with its snow-cold skies,
Nor unto Tempe where Jove griev’d that day;
But to that second circle of sad Hell,
Where in the gust, the whirlwind, and the flaw
Of rain and hail-stones, lovers need not tell
Their sorrows—pale were the sweet lips I saw,
Pale were the lips I kiss’d, and fair the form
I floated with, about that melancholy storm.

I have lived my life in dreams and words that have always involved the lyrics of this song CLICKIE by the wonderful Gerry Rafferty.

Dream along, bold Sir...

I have Never heard that song. It's lovely, thanks for sharing. Sad that he died in that way. :-(

Just a word of advice on YouTube videos; edit the html of your post and set the 'width' parameter to about 360. It appears twice in the html paragraph of the settings - once at the beginning and again at the end. That will then ensure the vid stays within your margins.

Great choice of song. I paid tribute to Rafferty with an earlier song.

Great poem and song, Fhina. As for so many others, 'Baker Street' is a fond memory from my more youthful days!

Winding your way down on Baker Street
Light in your head and dead on your feet
Well another crazy day, you’ll drink the night away
And forget about everything.

My early days in the WRAF made real by song

Something I wrote earlier...
