The Other Side of the Mirror...

Black and white Pictures, Images and Photos

All right, said Alice, I'm going back
To the other side of the mirror
I'm going back...

Black and white Pictures, Images and Photos

Like Alice through the looking glass
She used to know who she was...

We all have crises of confidence, of identity, de temps en temps, n'est-ce pas, mes bloggy Scrabble-Boards?

And what do we do?
How do we react against this daring shot across our bows...
Do we retreat into the nearest boutique, to buy something that will place us in just the right shade of black, make us appear three sizes smaller, and to be the best that I can be...

What do we do?

We fight, we scream,
We please and wheedle...
We eat ice cream.

And then we freeze, and are caught
Like the proverbial rabbit in the headlights
Not knowing who that even is in the looking-glass any more...

There it is...

Staring back at its reflection.
Questioning its very existence.
To cry out, in its shrilly voice, "Fake!"

For one and all to hear.

Love the pics... As for those crises, I try to get through them as best I can - with the help of friends and family. I don't let myself freeze up though...

Beautiful gown...what drama in the photos, Ms Fhina. I sometimes get into the real life drama...and just have to pull myself out...some say it's the price of being creative. Take care. <3

Gorgeous photos to be sure, but I try my best to stay away from the fake.

As mirrors only show the outside person, I ignore 'em, for the most part!

Ugh, dramas of first power. Crises of confidence can last a lifetime if not treated with food, touch, smell, scream and rest! Then, repeat.

What a clever way to push us there, Fhina. How did you do it?

ladyfi: Thank you, treasure! We mostly all do have those little wobbles, non? Those where we wonder where we are and who we are, at least some of the time... I do see a tendancy to freeze amongst those who are very afraid of change, though... I found myself doing a little freezing in my last job, when we all had to re-apply for our jobs again, and there weren't enough positions for all of us...I was the one who left the team, and it was probably a blessing in disguise, although it did not feel like it at the time... xxx

Cynthia: Oh, dahlink, I can be such the drama queen! I did love the first picture, and thought I must use it somehow - it must be Cecil Beaton or someone like that - And then it all fit together as Alice looking through the Looking Glass... I know exactly what you mean, and those who are shallow, who become more fake, never seem to have to face those traumas of the creative mind, in my experience... Churchill called them his Black Dogs... Take care, C! xox

♥ Braja Bless you so, Heart-filled Braja! xox

Woman in a Window: My dahlink so do I, however, we seem to exist in a world where we are all becoming more and more parodies of ourselves, non? Thank you so for stopping by, and I very much value your reflections - Your writing is always spectacular...x

La Jinksy: I haven't stopped by yours this week, my darling Jinksy - I shall be over tomorrow, as I've a long train ride to Liverpool ahead of me! I have only mirrors that show me from the neck up, I must admit ;) ! xxx

lakeviewer: Thank you so for that recipe for survival, darling Rosaria! Have a wonderfully energetic and creative week! xox

Diane: You always make me smile, darling Diane! Take care, much love, xxx

Sniffles and Smiles: That is such a kind thing to say from one so respected about the Bloglands, thank you so... x

Change is tough...especially with women and their vanity. I'm always surprised at what stares back at me in the mirror! Never change the natural.

a mirror not always the best thing to look in, through or at...I adore the premier image...I want to be the girl in the mirror, hopes dashed, dream not yet undone...sigh!!
