Beauty is in the eye...
I've just been and bought two new bras... What a trauma that is!
Searching through racks of pretty, pastel, frilly fripperies, that I couldn't get an arm or a leg in...
Then the tiny assistant offers to help, and I am man-handled into a beech coffin-like waiting area, waiting for a fitting room to be free.
And then you are stripped, as naked as the day you were born, well almost, and levered into a variety of flimsy, lacy concoctions, or instruments of mediaeval torture...
Maybe that's why I feel today as if I've been clamped in an iron lung for days...
That's the price we pay for our beauty, non?! And I am sooooooooo worth it!

Yes, it's torture...and you are soooo worth it!!! Wait. That's not what I meant!!! Ms Fhina's beauty just comes with a punishment-like price! No...that's not what I meant!!! Oh buying bras is a bother...the more help you get the worse it is...yes, awkward subject, all comments seem to go off in their own direction! Oh dear. <3
I love beautiful lingerie and am most fortunate to have stumbled on a tiny shop in my home town in VA where a social worker turned entrepreneur fits me most perfectly and comfortably in frothy things that make me feel beautiful. I think of Ruth as a free counseling service as she has seen me through some rough times, her theory being that there is nothing so bad pretty undies can't make it better. I seem to have reached an age beyond modesty somewhere between childbirth and menopause, at long last comfortable in my own skin.
oh soooo worth it!!
love it and I only ever where a bra if it has no underwire... i can't bear any wire near my chest :-)
best wishes

I treated myself to a visit to Rigby & Peller once. I thought it would be a lovely experience and I would come away with armfuls of beautiful delicate lingerie. After the fitting the assistant came back with one bra. Apparently it was the only one that would fit me, said as she looked me up and down. I have to admit it did raise me up. It was like Bridget Jones knickers, only for the boobs. And it came in beige :-)
You are sooooo worth it because you are gorgeous!!!
NOT my favorite thing to have to go and do...if you saw what I was wearing of late...you would know how much I despise it.
;^)
And I know it MUST be true: a woman could not possibly have invented under-wire bras....
I heard recently that bras are to be replaced something like every 6 months, as opposed to every 6 years like I do LOL
Enjoy your new frilly purchases!
Enjoy your new purchases. I love shopping for pretty things. Then, I wear my beige t-shirt bras anyway. Go figure
Just in case it makes you feel any better, bra-shopping is dreadful no matter what size or shape you are IMO.
Funny that you are still being handled by professional bras people. We can't find anybody to help us in department stores. Not that I miss those handlers. I never liked the fuss and lies that they were willing to send my ways.
Frankly, I'd rather not bother with either the purchasing or the wearing or bras. We should have clothes that cuddle and soften us.
Anecdotal evidence would suggest under-wire bras WERE indeed invented by a man - and an architect, no less!
The only time I ever set foot in a bra specialty store was to buy sticky-boobs for my daughter. When I asked for them in a "B" cup, the ladies just about fell over. . . "They're not for you, I hope?????"
We saw Jo Brand do a hilarious skit on this very same subject on Friday night.
(So is that what an iron lung looks like?)
You are so worth it, ma petite dentelle rose.
I love to buy lingerie, it makes me feel good. Then I have to absolutely enter a patisserie to have an eclaire...
Bisous,
Lolà
Good for you for going through that titious task, oops, don't think I spelled that correctly......I hate shopping for bras and wear mine till they literally break...I must take the plunge, uh, er, well, you know what I mean. Beauty is in the eyes of the 'cup' holder!!!!!!
I LOVE buying pretty underwear! And you know what? I always buy bras and panties to match my outfits. Now that's more than you ever wanted to know, isn't it?

I'm an underwire pusher. I like them. Makes my bras fit me better, stay in place better. But I definitely like the pretty ones cuz when I'm wearing them, I feel pretty all over. That's worth just about any price.
I never realized that buying a bra was so difficult.
Oh, I do it all wrong. I grab my bras off the rack and bring them home and they don't fit, so I shove them in a drawer and go with the old standby, the one that I can't seem to remember just where I bought it. Like I said. I do it all wrong.
I need to do this soon. But I go to places where no one helps. Whew!
