My wish has been answered...

When I returned from lovely Liverpool, and found that access to my blog, and yours, is not possible during lunchtime in the office, I turned to check my Hotmail account with a pet lip firmly in place...

What's this??!

I knew that Fleetwood Mac were currently touring in North America. I had checked their official site quite a bit, for any news of a tour over here, over the pond.

Nothing, nix, de nade, de rien, nichts...

And then, the official tout, and gangmaster of tickets, came up bloggy trumps in my very own e-mail in-box.

Hurrah! FM would be touring the UK...

And would they be sojourning in Newcastle?

Cultural City...

Town of Newcastle Brown, (Note: longer brewed in Newcastle...);
Region of Weepettes, and Leeks??!

Non!

So Fhina thought she'd take a look at Glasgow, the next nearest city.

...Never been there for a concert. In fact, only been there once for work, and saw naught of the city, so might as well make a weekend of it. Fhina'd been wanting to check out the Charles Rennie Mackintosh architecture and other interesting sights for years, so...

I checked with one of my bosses... Could I just try to log on and buy tickets while at my desk?

He said yes. A music fan, he.

Bless him!

Almost an hour and a half later, I was still there... Chucking back back-row tickets, in an attempt to secure seats closer to the stage...

I was willing to pay the top price, not toooo mad when you consider I've been following this band for years, since I first heard Stevie sing Rhiannon and Dreams, in fact... Just after Rumours...

And before then, you ask?

I have loved Fleetwood Mac's, 'Albatross' since I was a child.

Will that do, mes bloggy Mac-Fans?! Am I fan enough to risk spending a hundred pounds or so on two tickets?

Who would you pay the earth to see, if you could, mes bloggy music-lovers?

...More of this missive laters, me Bloggy Massive... R-E-S-P-E-C-T - Booyakasha, as Ali G once cried!

Albatross played on bb3 or 4 the other night and went all OOOhs and aahhss about it and Larry just nodded. As he does. being flegmatic and not at all enthusiastic in a loud gregarious SAz knda way!

I played it over and over with my brother jake and aright now over and over and....

then l discovered Rumours..and Larry and I went to see them in the 80's
I too wanted to go again, I noticed they weren't in Newcastle and asked hi if he would go again, he said Non...I WISH i had thought of you!!

Pity Peter Green went gaga. Adore Albatross - and Stormy Petrel on a Stick. I'm also particularly fond of Gannet Ripple.

The husband and I just got tickets to see Sir Paul in concert here in the States. We considered buying Van Morrison tickets but they were almost twice as much as the McCartney tickets. Go figure!

Well, Fhina, I hope you get your heart's desire! I used to enjoy the odd FM song but there are precious few bands that would get me queuing up nowadays! (I can hear the raspberries from here!)

Yeah, go for it!

I love those early songs - Albatross, Man of the World, Need Your Love So Bad, Oh Well etc - and then Rumours blew everyone away and Tusk wasn't bad either.

My all-time great blues/rock singer is Paul Rodgers of Free, Bad Company fame and somehow I always just missed out seeing him perform live until five years ago when he fronted Queen in Paris. And it was worth the wait. He is The Man!

Gosh they look so old in the pictures.

The most I have ever spent on tickets was years ago when I spent £150 on one ticket to see Placido Domingo in La Boheme at Covent Garden - and it wasn't even the top price but the second top.

You're worth it though (do you work in one of the NI or DSS places in Newcastle? I bet you are not in the expat section because when I speak to them on the phone they are never very friendly)

I can't think of anyone I'd pay crazy amounts to see... well, actually, right now it'd probably be Hannah Montana or the Jonas Brothers ;)

Saz, it's all true - Sisters under the skin, my dahlink! And I do love Free and Bad Company too...

Funnily, I don't really miss Christine - I have always been more of a Stevie fan, and Chris is apparently very happy tending to her English garden and being a lady of some leisure... The band, and I do think Chris was a consummate musician...has more of a feel of being Lindsey's and Stevie's band now, much as Fritz must have been... They even play a couple of Peter Green's tunes now too... I wish I were seeing one of their concerts with you too - We need to think about that (hopefully, next time?) Love to you, Saz - Welcome, always to whatever room I am in! xxooxx

TC: Gannet Ripple - And Wolf Nipple Chips - Fabulous!

The Gaelic Wife - I adore Van The Man, but it is odd that he would be charging twice as much as Sir Paul - I hope you really enjoy seeing him in concert - What a legend... x

Derrick, as if I would ever have the nerve to blow a raspberry at you, Sir - You could hit me square in the face with a kipper from chez vous! ;)

Dumdad: As with Saz, I love Mr Rodgers - And what a voice that man still has... I love it that Queen have found themselves again, putting out his songs - Incredible! I met David Kossoff years ago, when he was touring the Unis advocating against drug use - What a man he was, and what a loss his beautiful son is still to us today...

FF: No, my dahlink, I do not work in the benefit factories at Longbenton and the business centres - Thankfully... I might have to stab myself through the heart with a knitting needle if I did... I work for the Dogs and Cats, Skunks and Ferrets department...

Placido Domingo - what a man! Such wonderful things you have done, FF - You are a true inspiration!

Diane: I am running from the room now - D'you hear me? Not wild horses could drag me! My best to you and Ry! ;) xox

Lucky you! Enjoy these wonderful entertainers. I'm not a concert goer, but I did see them live thanks to my daughter. Nothing prepares you for that live-now sensation and good vibrations.

I would pay huge sums to see Fleetwood Mac, but you'd have to go with me. I'm quite certain Mr. Blognut would balk at the idea.

I would also pay huge sums to see Bon Jovi and I've done too many times tell it. :)

Have a lovely week, my dear Fhina. Hope you got great seats!

Love,
