Sweet Home Alabama...

With this posting, I am bearing to you my very soul...

We've had remembrances and memories this weekend, have we not - Out there in the great universe, with another anniversary of 9/11...

And you know that I had to watch my sweet uncle's passage into the final tunnel of love and light recently, right? And lost my beloved dad to the very same incredibly invasive and bone-crushing cancer three years before? So, this latest time was like passing through a mirror image of losing him again, in many ways.

Well, this for me is the song I want to emblazon upon my final passing...

"Sweet Home Alabama". Do you think it strange, mes bloggy tabernacles?

I love this tune, the chequered history of the band, the tragic tales of its members, and this wonderful song's bold and cheeky lyrics...

Especially the refrain,

"Sweet Home Alabama...
... I'm coming home to you!"

Ca suffit non?!

GJ knows my wishes, this and the Empress, la Stevie, singing of her Landslide, will call me home...

"Take my love, take it down
Climb a mountain and turn around
If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well the landslide will bring it down..."

I'm gonna go Stevie Nicks Pictures, Images and Photos

Je vous jure...

I love that song. It's a classic. I love how certain songs become a piece of your soul and your life. I think any song that means that much to you should be cherished.

Hello dear Fhina from far away and long ago...thinking of you with the loss of your uncle and the memory of your father's passing too. So sorry....

I to love this song, strangely...has always been one of my favorites. It's just a classic of home. My hubby is from Alabama, though I loved it long before I loved him.

Thank you for your recent visit and kind words on both blogs. Many happinesses this weekend to you...

I wonder whether birds make music for each other, or just talk.

Hi Fhina,

I think you can have whatever you want but why do you want to go to Alabama?! There must be sweeter places (apologies to all Alabama residents!). But you're not going anywhere for a while, eh?

Oh MS Fhina, so sad to think that we have to relive grief...it's like a double hit when someone we love dies. I send you love and light...and may your Sweet Home...be here and now...and not in the Alabama after life of the 70's. <3

You have the most endearing voice.
This post has it all: humour, pathos and sass. Not to mention Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Do please visit Jane Austen House on a Thursday . . . and then we will cross the street to Cassandra's Cup for tea!

I can identify with feeling like you are going through the loss of your father again, sorry that those feelings were once again intensified. Hey, Sweet Home Alabama is like my state's anthem!!!

I don't even want to think about your passing - so I won't.

But those are great songs.

Love to you,
