Be Your Tamasha!

Thank you for all of your bold, right and brave, (and often very funny - See below), words yesterday!

As Madame Smoking Gun of
Scene of the Crime blog said, "I am the mother of all loud non-blonde nose-picking cupboard slamming nail-biting unladylike non-sylphs. Yeah baby!

He sounds like a twat. Her only actual 'fault' appears to be a propensity for getting married in the first (or second, or third) place. The only reason I could imagine doing something so daft again would be to satisfy an addiction to gold rings and cake- introduce her to QVC and Mr Kipling".

(Mr Kipling is our maker of Twinkies... What has happened to my font today??! Gah!)

This made me spit out my Sugar Puffs laughing - So good, I've printed this twice!

This is me too, except for the fact that I am blonde and am fastidious about my ever-grotty labourer's nails, I must admit...

So, yesterday you also asked me, "What does Tamasha mean?"

In colloquial Hindi, the term tamasha is used to refer to a show, a spectacle, a commotion, or any activity or display with bustle and excitement, sometimes ironically in the sense of "a tempest in a teacup."

And,

Tamasha is an Urdu word for the noun 'show', or 'spectacle'. It is also used to convey a similar meaning as the word 'drama' does for the behaviour of a 'drama queen'.

In the state of Maharashtra, India, Tamasha is a traditional folk art form, often with singing and dancing, widely performed by local or traveling theatre groups. Some Hindi movies have also included "tamasha" songs in the past.

In Telugu, the language of the citizens of Andra Pradesh, "tamasha" means funny.

So, how in the North of England, does a gathering of office workers for Chrimbo and other celebrations, get to be called a 'Tamasha'.

Don't ask Fhina!

Have a Tamasha of a celebration this weekend, mes bloggy Christmas Puds, whatever your belief systems - May the days ahead be merry and bright!

Have a Cool and Peaceful Yule...

Mwah! Mwah! Mwah!

Yeah it's very nearly here. It's in the trees. It's coming. I'm not ready. I don't care. Just going to grit my teeth and wear tights. Maybe even a paper hat. I'll all be over soon.

Thank you for the nod - made me come over all pink. (Which is weird - thought I'd destroyed all pinkness last year. Or discarded. Any remaining pink was dyed red. And brown dyed black. Get me.) Bigly flattered.

Hope you find enough chocolate to see you through. It's the best any of us can hope for.

Happy Xmas !

Hi Fhina,

Well, I'm glad I'll know a Tamasha when I see one. Have a Merry Little Tamasha yourself.

'QVC and Mr Kipling' really is funny!

That was clever of you! I could have told everyone to come and look at your blog, instead of sending them their own 'no-card cards' by email! Did you recognise where it came from, I wonder? lol :)
