The heroine - Kirsty MacColl...

I once met a man with a sense of adventure
He was dressed to thrill wherever he went
He said "Let's make love on a mountain-top
under the stars on a big hard rock..."
I said, "In these shoes? I don't think so."
I said, "Honey, let's do it here."

So I was sitting at a bar in Guadalajara
In walks a guy with a faraway look in his eyes
He said "I've got a powerful horse outside
climb on the back I'll take you for a ride.
I know a little place we can get there
before the break of day."
I said, "In these shoes? No way Jose."
I said, "Honey, let's stay right here."

From Auntie Beeb:

"The campaign seeking justice for the death of singer Kirsty MacColl is to cease its work, it has been announced.

Activists said they made the move after the Mexican authorities announced the case had closed and all lines of enquiry have been exhausted.

The committee said it achieved their aims and raised funds for MacColl's mother to pay lawyers' fees.

MacColl died in 2000 at the age of 41 after being hit by a speedboat while on holiday in Cozumel, Mexico" Emerging from a dive, Kirsty managed to push one of her sons out of the path of the speedboat, saving his life...

Kirsty shall remain one of my heroines, musical and otherwise...

I loved Kirsty's voice and always thought her death so tragic. However, I hoped that they would find who was responsible and bring them to justice. So sad that they've given up.

a lovely tribute. I loved her voice and the favourite is Fairytale of New York. Not forgetting New England because I love Billy Bragg.
thanks,
:-)

Hi Fhina,

Very sad. I wasn't familiar with this lady but the lyrics are fun!

It's always sad to think about poor Kirsty. She used to live down the road to me way back when and we would sometimes chat for a bit - she was lovely and I sat and cried when I first heard the upsetting news.

This is a fine tribute, Fhi.
