Guess How Much I Love You?

Thankyou and a very warm welcome to my new friends who follow, via the wondrous One World One Heart - Fabulous dahlink!

It's been an Incredible Magic Carpet Ride, non??! I am following you too - I'm a bit lurky like that - I generally follow those who follow me and I flit about reading blogs, but not always commenting, so beware... I'm rather a giddy social butterfly. You might notice...

And I'm also over HERE today, chez les Mad Manic Mamas (and Papas too, we're very multi-faceted, except I'm posting today on Motherhood!)...

I love to be in two places at once, me! It stops the Inland Revenue catching up with you...

Speaking of riches, I was astounded by the generosity of giveaway pyizes on offer through participating blogs in OWOH, and by the wealth of common warmth and feeling that lies in so many bloggeros and bloggeristas; The love, the warmth, and the absolute creative genius that belongs to so many bloggy muses and artists - Spell-binding... I wish I were as craftily talented... Sigh.

And, as mentioned, all winners will be notified, provided I'm not too far 'Under The Influence', (of work, you see!), on 15 February, so Watch This Space!

I've decided there'll be 5 winners, in honour of the number of years (nearly) that the OWOH challenge has been going... There will, of course, be A.S. Byatt's Possession on offer, (to those who haven't read it), and by the same author, The Children's Book.

I also intend to allocate three minor British Government related giftettes, consisting of mug coasters and badges with the motto in the picture at the top of this article - Inviting us all to "Keep Calm and Carry On"... Just imagine those clipped English tones. I'm sure you'll recognise it from around about, and I've even blogged about the origins of it, linked to a place that's close to my heart HERE...

I have the very same red mug coaster-tile on my desk at work and my colleague who sits opposite has the very postcard on her little 'wall' separating our desks...

Such happy little nuances keep us this side of sane, it seems...

I found the badges last week, glistening brightly in a glass bowl in our city's department store, Fenwick's, while searching for a suitable giftette and cards for my man-child, Grizz, who reaches the tender age of 18 today. Scary, non?

I'm just not old enough to be the mother of an 18 Year Old!!!

Still, Fhina's golden mirror says otherwise... I need to start smearing more Vaseline on the camera lens, mes bloggy loves... That, and only being seen by candle-light!

Wonder how that'll go down at The Orifice?

Bet it'll set the smoke and fire alarms off!

Happy Birthday to my darling boy... He isn't likely to read this, so I can be as soppy as I like... I hope you understand in life, G, and throughout whatever differences we have. (see Stroppy Teenager vs. Stentorian Mum), how much your mum loves you more than life itself...

Right, I'm ready for me close-up now, Mr de Mille?!

How I wish my government had such advice for us. Instead, we alternate between frenzied paranoid jingoism and utter disregard for all thoughts originating from outside of our borders...

Ah my dear, I've been too long a wondering, but let me say, you've still got it. I sympathize and I truly want one of those little badges. It's so perfectly British and I admit to being a bit of an Anglophile. Of course It might also be because I'm the mother of a 41 year old, a 31 year old and a 28 year old, all of whom I swear are my sibs not my children. Well except for the two grandchildren. I must admit they make this old crone phase more tolerable. Now if you will excuse me i'm off to google "Keep Calm and carry on" hopefully imprinted on a tea cup.

Happy Birthday to your boy!

Er, Happy Birthday to your man. I believe 18 constitutes an adult. Right?

I have four little ones, including a set of 5-year-old triplets, and I can see just how fast time goes. Blip. They're walking. Blip. They're talking. Blip. They're starting school this fall. My babies, starting school?!

I know it'll just be a few more blip - blip - blips and they'll be 18. And I will cry. Bittersweet tears. Gah. I'm tearing up at the thought of it!!

I hope you both had a wonderful day. Happy birthday, Mama! :)
