Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...

Today I am hopefully going into the nearest town for a haircut and some highlights. I am beginning to look as if I have a mane, and the Festive Season is galloping towards us like a mad mare!

I say 'hopefully' because I have been sort of snowed in (did I hear you say, 'Again?!') since yesterday.

Ah, the joys of rural living. One week wild salmon wrestling, the next digging your way out of a snow bunker, lying about the house in your nightgown like a scene from the Last Days of the Roman Empire, spending hours warding off the siege mentality that only comes from fear of another outbreak of the Cabin Fever we underwent last year under very similar conditions... HERE

And I was reading a note on Facebook from a friend's sister, who lives in Australia, when she said that a White Christmas was her dream...

It might be. If you live in Brisbane.

Snow does look wondrous for a time, as it coats the earth in virgin white and makes everything look pretty, all Christmas-cardy and chocolate-boxy. But when it prevents you getting about safely, when your employers doubt your motives for having to stay at home (not saying mine are like this, they are very understanding, but others may not be, and you go through torments of guilt...), and when leaving the house between snowfalls leaves you breathless with anxiety when it seemed as if you were going to slip back down the steep hill and plummet into the freezing river below, (which happened to us last year), it's snow joke.

So, spare a thought for Fhina, please, as you go about your business today, perhaps untrammelled by the weather.

And if you spot this person about town:
It might be me if I don't get to the hair salon sharpish!

Sounds fab and looks wondrous for a while, but it took my sis 2 hours to get down to Peterlee yesterday (normally 40 mins). What a drag!

You know when we first moved here from Texas, I was enamored with snow. Now? Not so much.

Not that we actually get a lot of the white stuff - but as I told Hubby today, I am OVER winter.

I know exactly what you mean - my stress levels hit the roof when I have to drive in it, all the while trying my damndest to keep my hovering foot off the brake pedal!

I`m a `Strictly` girl myself - it`s a lot easier on the ears!

Stay safe and warm. x

I have the same heart up in my mouth reaction to snow here too. One never knows how much you will get and how long you will be trapped!! Ack!! I so hate it when the snows come.
In four years we are moving south!! Yeah!!!!!!!
Wish it could be sooner.
Good luck sweetie!!

We have to drive to Newcastle today, Fhina and it's not looking promising. Fingers crossed for us both! Stay warm.

Golly gosh! Poor you. It truly is lovely to look at, but having this much, this early in the season does not bode well for a short winter.

Do take care.
Where are the snow plows and the gritting machines when you need them?

Your Earl Gray tea is delightful. Thank you!

Here in the colony of Canada, we deal with snow for about five months a year. One moves it around when one needs to; one ignores it when it's too inconvenient. If we get too much at one time, we simply shut down the city and send everyone home early.

And if we get too much, well, we can always get out of the house by climbing up the inside of the chimney.

I do hope you can learn to enjoy your snow. It's actually quite a lot of fun!
