No matter the eccentric things about him, he was someone's son, brother and dad and I feel for them tonight. I find myself melancholy about it since I'm almost his age and my childhood was filled with the Jackson 5 and it was hard to see him morph as he did. However, my heart goes out to him, his situation and family.

He was a child, and we should remember the damage we can so easily do to children, even with prodigious talents... We are none of us immune, we are all vulnerable and frail...

I am just so sad at this news, he has been the soundtrack to my life.

A prodigious talent.
It's very sad. The MJ I loved as a child and young adult died a long time ago, but I still can't believe he's gone today. He was only 50 years old...
Big shock. A real creative talent - tortured genius, like so many of those from the past.
First to mind are his children...
