I too have a strange love affair with black and white. Which is strange as black and white was an artificial invention of early photography - quite unnatural. But it has the ability to add contrast and that's what I like. Thanks for your excellent examples.

Fortunately for us all Black and White doesn't really exist as there are always shades of gray.

I love black and white.
Short funny story. When I was younger (and now, too, for that matter) I loved The Three Stooges. All of their films - almost all of them, in any case - were shot in black and white.
Now, I saw them on television, of course. One day, My Mother told me that she and My Dad were thinking of getting a color TV set, and she asked me if that was exciting news.
I told her that I didn't want one.
She asked me why.
I said, "I don't think I want to see The Three Stooges in color. I like them in black and white."

We say black and white but there's a million shades of gray involved.
It's why I struggle so with my family... they live in a very black and white world... mine is very grey (and aqua, cerulean, lemon, coral, etc ;) XO

The black and whites are stunning, I think in many ways they make everthing sharper and often convey a mood much better than colour. Many thanks also for my award, I've only just found it!! Big hugs, and make yourself some tea and crumpets as a thankyou x
