More Tales of Fleetwood Mac...and the Parasol of Love...

fleetwood mac Pictures, Images and Photos

Help me, Goddess Wiki, for I have sinned...

I had the expectation that I would be able, at nine o' clock on the day of sale, to procure semi-reasonable tix for Fleetwwod Mac in Glasgow, Scotland's golden city...

How naive was I, not to know that touts-horribles would be there first, somehow snapping up any good tix, front rows, back rows, leaving only the dregs for any decent, proper, common-as-muck fans...

After around an hour, I decided that I was not willing to take Victorian opera glasses to a concert to enable me to see the band above the heads of elderly, balding-roue, Hedge-Fund-Managers - Idiots willing to pay more than haut-dollar for front-row tix...

Still on sale with a tout near you, if you're interested, mes Pingouins McVie...

Exasperated, I thought I'd try wibbly-wobbly Wembley...

Never been, never tried before, but surely I could get some tix there... Surely it was a big enough venue, surely there'd be enough to go around...

Surely all the touts in the world weren't on every flamin' site at once?!

And so, after an hour and a half, I compromised. I procured second block from the front tickets, where my neighbours will no doubt complain when I get up to dance, to swirl my chiffon skirts, rattling my crescent moon jewellery and my tambourine like a true gypsy, to cheer on la Stevie the Goddess of Rock, with all of my wild heart...

I am satisfied that I have not played the touts' game... I am however livid, as only la Fhina Folle can be, that tickets are available at more than 6 times their face price, via twatty touts from near and far on the Internets...

Am I missing something, mes bloggy loves?

I thought Ticketmaster and the like were there to deter these shady practices, to limit the number of tickets able to be purchased in one fell swoop, to enable proper fans like moi to pay more reasonable, face-value prices to see the bands they love and hold dear...

Or am I just a stoopid, tree-hugging hippy after all...

Don't answer that one, mes dahlinks... On the grounds that I might be incriminated after all...

And I don't want to be seen in the back of a Black Maria, a towel over my head, protecting my innocence from the media...

Again!

What has been your experience of live music this year, mes bloggy Long Haired Lovers of Liverpool?! Who are you mad to see?

Bonne chance, mes bloggeristas xxx

(***'Black Maria' was the nickname for secure police vans with separate locked cubicles, used for the transportation of prisoners. The name is said to have come from a large and powerful black lodging-house keeper named Maria Lee, who helped constables of Boston, Massachusetts in the 1830s when they needed to escort drunks to the cells.

The Met's first vehicle of any kind was a Black Maria drawn by two dray horses, acquired in 1858. Within 30 years the number had increased to eight, and a special area in the yard of Bow Street Police Court was reserved for them to load and unload their charges. Source.)

Toodles, mes bloggy-doves... Fhina's parasol is ready to fly away...

Hello again! Your mention of Long Haired Lover from Liverpool made me smile...Back in the days it was a hit song, my then tiny son was found sitting on the doormat one morning, singing 'I'll be your long haired apple from Liverpool' while daintily picking up a passing woodlouse and smpling it for snacking possibilities...His shuddering and grimacing plainly showed it rated 'nul point'...

"Twatty touts", Fhina??!! Wash your mouth out! It's a bit like that other old profession, I imagine, and I doubt it can ever be wiped out completely. Sorry!

My live music so far this year was at the Festival Theatre in Edinburgh last month to see Scottish Opera perform Massenet's "Manon". How about that, then?

Oh, if only I could be there to shake a booty with you (or at least video you...) I'm not one for going to concerts much, unless I can get really close seats...I tire of the crowds and stingy to give them the money for tickets. Last time I went was to a jam held here where I could see many bands at one location.

Long live the hippie-gypsies swirling and twirling in chiffon skirts, rattling crescent moon jewelry and tambourines!!!
;^)
I hope you have a blast!
(I saw Fleetwood Mac in concert in Reno, Nevada, in my growing up years....soooooooooo long ago, I'm not even going to say when...) I managed to work my way right up to center front stage...all I can remember is lots of black, gauzy fabric, the atmosphere filled with fog, and that the music was LOUD when you're that close to the gargantuan speakers!!!
;^)

Well my first live concert for ages is in 9 days time at France's biggest festival which is about 15 mins in the car away from us.

I'll be seeing the Boss and the Killers and I'm going to be very happy indeed. Tickets cost €70 which is not too bad considering there are other bands on as well - from 3pm until midnight.

Glad you got the Fleetwood tickets

jinksy: Bless you, my darling for stopping by and that little anecdote about your boy is just darling and I can see it now -~ I can - What treasure - Thank you for sharing! You are so funny... xox

Derrick: Sorry, Sir! I shall watch my language in future - I am getting away with myself, truly! You are right, I guess it's an old profession that can never be wiped out entirely, but it is distressing, particularly when you know the money gains do not actually get to the professionals involved! can ever be wiped out completely. Manon, wonderful! Just like you, you culture vulture! I saw Scottish Opera perform the Drei Groschen Oper (sp) some years ago in Inverness - They were incredibly talented! x

Artist Unplugged: I would sooo be there with you, my darling...

Hope you are keeping well and that some of your health issues are subsiding, and you are feeling more like yourself - Much love to you - A jam sounds so cool to me! xox

Cynthia L. H.: True, true! That is me, that is us, n'est-ce pas?! Fabuluss! Thank you for your lovely anecdote - I loved it - Chiffon, chiffon, chiffon, non?! xox

French Fancy: I wish you well - France's biggest festival sounds wonderful, FF! Give a kiss on the cheek to the Boss for me, s'il te plait! x

Ladyfi: My tix are second block from the front, so probably not fabulous, but I am just pleased that I got tix on the floor, on Stevie's side, and hopefully I shall not be hemmed in and prevented from ligging it! Love to you x

They have some very good people coming to Oxford's New Theatre -- including Joan Baez -- and I believe that ticket-purchasing is proper British queueing and not the rotten, corrupt practices described here.

Do share pics of your Stevie-esque outfit when the time comes!

Ouch, I need a translator here for a while. But, no way did it stop me from enjoying your rant. Love the parasol picture.

Oh, Fhina! How I wish you had come to me earlier. Mr. Blognut has polished his ticket-getting skills to perfection. He buys pairs of whatever he can get on Ticketmaster for face value the day they go on sale (or sometimes the week before by joining the group's fan club website and getting the early sale passwords for a small fee).

Then, he puts those tickets on Ebay for an upcharge, and uses the gains to get the seats that he really wanted in the first place - somewhere in the first 10 rows.

Isn't he cute? But I do get to see a lot of shows from the good seats.

Better luck, Love.

Love,
Bloggus

I have no idea about touts. Except to say that Ticketmaster and the like are there to keep them from buying up all the best tickets...

Anyway, at least you got some decent seats at Wembley, n'est-ce pas?

As for live music - every day here courtesy of my two music-lovin' anklebiters!
