Love and Chocolate...
Thank you for all of your support to me during this week, following Grizz's tumble into potential dark chocolatedness, and also for the love and light you have directed to darling Braja, her husband, Jahnu and their driver who are currently recovering, thankfully, from their ordeal, in a hospital near Kolkata.
The world is getting smaller and smaller, mes bloggy chums, supported by our love and growing friendship and admiration shown and shared across our blogs, writings, and feelings, (Oh, my male followers are slipping away, whooooosh, there they go, apart from The Chairman, who is alleged to be addicted to chocolate aussi, according to Hay...! A woman who might have at least one portrait in the attic, according to Sir's latest posts, who knows?!)
Anyhoo, I am intent on sending you my love and best wishes, and as a little giftette, the portent of chocolate - Good old English choc, of course... (other chocolates are available, and Belgian chocolate is superior!), this is a very recent ad for Cadbury's Milk Chocolate. Here are the stars:
I love the quirkiness of this ad, the peculiar and indeed very endearing children, the music, the pink balloon - which appears out of nowhere - and indeed le chocolat itself. Well, why not?!
Please note that the trademark chocolate purple wrapper is alse evoked by the purple colour of the little girl's pinafore dress?
Enjoy, mes darlings, and have a great week to come, please, and look after yourselves do, and hug those around you - Don't hesitate... I promise you that the returns of spreading this 'rubber loving' shall not be lost to you... And, apres tous, Fhina herself shall be there to mop the melted choccie from your lips, I promise - None shall know our addictions and shared plaisirs...
...In case you did not know, Cadbury's Fingers are my real comfort food, and I would kill to protect them, but I am prepared to share them with you, for a price... Well, perhaps in return for your continued friendship and loving care!
For those of you, who might be interested in more detail, this is the vid from the first of this series of Cadbury's Choc adverts.
This one featuring, as it does, a cute and clever gorilla, and music from Phil Collins...

I love these adverts!!
When the girls come over from the U.K. they always have to bring no less that 25 1 pounder's of Cadburys for our dear friends.
Thanks for the early morning smile and......
Steady On
Reggie Girl
The young chap looks alarmingly like my youngest.
Hi Fhina good morning!!! First I love love love chocolate!!! Perhaps too much!!!
Second, we have cadbury here in the states BUT what in the world is cadbury fingers??? I am intrigued and need to know more!!! Much more!!!
I love those commercials with the kids. Genius!!! Really!
Perhaps we can do some sort of chocolate exchange???
LOVE YA!!!
Those commercials are great! Not as great as eating the Cadbury deliciousness itself, but great in its own way.
there is nothing that a little - make that lot- of chocolate can't solve :-)
Goodness - is that gorilla really playing the drums! Amazing... And those wiggly eyebrows... too sweet - and bizarre! i like it.
Cute commercials. I want to know if the gorilla was real, or if it was someone wearing a costume???
Cadbury in England tastes better than Cadbury here... but I dunno if I'd just rather eat it in England than here, or if the formula's different. I'm partial to Galaxy when I'm there, though (we can't get it here). I buy the 10-packs of small bars My friend Todd, who SWEARS he's not a chocolate eater, winds up eating most of them and I find myself off to Sainsbury's... again... to get more ;)
Oh my goodness! All this chocolate and it isn't even noon here yet. Bless you, my dear. Chocolate is a wonderful way to get me going on a Sunday morning!
God bless chocolate and you for heralding its delight and deliciousness. We could not live without. Having said that, I have just returned from Selfridge's food hall (visitors in town, so had to do the rounds) and paid astronomical fortune for nutty choc truffle that lasted in my mouth about 30 seconds. xxx
Ummm good! Those little kiddies are the most serious actors addressing Fhina's profound chocolate need. And that King Kong pounding on drums to Phil! What a fun treat your post is today! I must learn how to play the pink balloon. <3
Midlife, menopause, mistakes and random stuff...: Reggie, dare I say that I am not surprised the stuff is so popular! I was all set to love a Hershey's Kiss a colleague brought into the office but sadly found them to taste a little bland, sorry... Steady on! x
Chairman Bill: Very surprising, Sir!
Michelle: Ah but Michelle, I'll bet you can run off all the chocolate you like, girl!
Cadbury's Fingers are a shortbread biscuit tube, around the length of your ring finger, as thin as a pencil, enrobed in Cadbury's Choc! I've given away my obsession now! xxx Glad you liked the surreal ads! A choc exchange sounds cool to me!
Comedy Goddess: Glad you enjoyed both the vids and the chocolate! x
carma: You are such a wise juggling genius, Carma! x
ladyfi: Hello dear, I do agree it looks very realistic that gorilla, and especially the facial expressions, but I think it might have been CGI a bit and also a drummer in a gorilla suit? The kids are great, aren't they, so cool? And thanks, Fi, for all you continue to do to help us 'reach' dear Braja! x
Pouty Baby: No-one knows for sure, but I am going for a drummer in a very decent gorilla suit, maybe mixed with a little CGI for the facial expressions! x
That was a very funny add.;)
You know, the chocolate reminds me very much of Milka, the German (or Swiss?) brand; the design of the wrapping is similar and the colour is purple as well.;)
Yes, it is funny how the add agencies play on the colors, I have seen in done here as well.;)
Hope you have had a lovely weekend.;)
Diane: Is it like Hershey's - Does that taste better in the US, Diane? I am very partial to Galaxy chocolate too, definitely, and Green & Black's organic as a rare (expensive) treat! xo
blognut: I know, I am trying to corrupt you all and spoil your New Year's resolutions to diet, and give up all you enjoy! No, really, I was so stunned at the news of Braja, I fell upon a posting based on what I had prepared some time ago... The ads with the children always make me smile, it is so surreal! x
Reasons to be Cheerful 1,2,3: It is true, I have gone without chocolate for months at a time, however, I could never give it up entirely, as one of my bosses once did - He used to buy it for his staff on a Friday, and said that watching others enjoying it still, helped him get by! xxx
Cynthia: Hello lovely island lady! I am glad to have offered you some (mad, bad and dangerous to know!) inspiration, my friend! x
Protege: Oh, Z, I love Milka when I can get it, and always get my OH to bring it for me if he is going through an airport where they sell it - I adore the lilac colour of the packaging, and the silver wrapping (or was that ages ago?). I even have a tiny china Milka cow! How obsessive is that! I never thought of it before now!
Great post, these are some of my favourite adverts...
but the truth is, cadburys isn't the smoothest chocolate, Galaxy is far superior, but if you want something special its got to be lindt, my daughter visited the factory last year and came home with a suitcase full....of course, that is whay i have an extra ten pounds hanging about my person..but it was sooo worth it. so cadburys takes third place, galaxy second and llindt fist....
the first picture in the post is wonderful.
Great ads, love the gorilla, I'd adopt him anyday, we don't have one of those in our home/zoo yet. And he's a far better drummer than our neighbours son (who thankfully lives far enough away to muffle the sound).
Anyhoo, I have a confession to make. I like chocolate too, especially during certain times of the month ;-) but I do not like bonbons or chocolate with a filling other than a hazelnut or almond. Is that weird? Am I abnormal?
So thanks for the offer to share your fingers with us, but no thanks ;-)
Sally's World: Welcome, thank you for stopping by! I know the cocoa content in Cadbury's or Galaxy as it is in Lindt, and I do love Lindt too, but any port in a chocolate storm - LOL! I really must check out those factory visits, not sure I would ever come out 'though!
Carolina: Having a gorilla around would certainly be a full-time occupation for you, C! How could you ever find time to write?! That would be terrible! My son is a drummer, you might remember? We have very understanding neighbours, and one is a old, famous drummer, so they can hardly complain! It is nto weird to have preferences in chocolate or bon-bons, no. Chacun a son gout, as they said! I am not sorry, you can imagine, not to have to share my rarely bought, 'comfort' fingers! x
found your blog via artist unplugged, and i really like it. know the ads, am in london, i love chocolate but it doesn't love me, so have to avoid it.
That gorilla commercial is THE COOLEST commercial EVER!
Fun and non-caloric, that's the kind of snack we all need. Throw in cute kids and a gorilla and we're in for a fun afternoon.
I'm glad you are getting a good break.
talk about multi-tasking! Could those kids really do that????
I don't even need the clever. Just give me the chocolate!
Soulbrush: What a great name you have and thank you for stopping by via the delightful and talented, Artist Unplugged!
You have to avoid chocolate - I understand that and really ought to avoid it myself, but...
The Things We Carried: It is cool, this wasn't all about the chocolate when I kicked off, it was about the cool ads! Then I realised how deep in chocolate I am!
lakeviewer: Mwah! x
lizspin: I know, I'm not sure whether the children in the advert were filmed sort of slow motion, time stop photograph, as CGI is a bit costly... They are delightful kids, 'though, non?!
Woman in a Window: Tee hee! You are so right!
I have no idea as to why I didn't see your post concerning your son's accident!!!! I read the one about your dear friends and so I have strolled back and read the missing link. What a scary, scary thing!!!! Yikes...and I don't know whether to hug him for his concern for you and not calling or smack him, after an appropriate healing time from his injuries and trauma!!!! Those are the defining moments we could do without yet bring into such a clear focus how precious and dear our loved ones are and how unexpectedly it could all change. My thoughts and prayer are with you knowing you are probably still not relaxed! My daughter is at the age of many friends having their new license and she doesn't get hers until this summer.....we have been ultra restrictive with her riding with them-next to none. I tell them it is not personal, that no matter what a careful driving they are NOTHING replaces time, experience and maturity. Parenting is not for wimps.....
Also, thank you so much for your kind and flattering commments you have left me- they mean alot. Big ol' hug to you and that son (though I know he would shrink with embarrassment and slight disgust at one from a middle-aged, unknown stranger from a different place that utters y'all!!!!) But do it just the same.
Well, this is one male reader who wasn't "slipping away, whooooosh," when you talked about "the global village" (as per Marshall McLuhan -- to whom I referred in one of my posts). According to McLuhan, in his Understanding Media, "the globe has contracted, spatially, into a single large village." (xii)
So you're right: "Indeed, the world is getting smaller and smaller, mes bloggy chums, supported by our love and growing friendship and admiration shown and shared across our blogs, writings, and feelings." Our global villageness is expressed in out concern for things like Grizz's mishap and the far more serious acident of Braja, her husband, Jahnu and their driver.
We live no more than a wire apart. It's as easy as leaning your head over the back fence and chatting up your neighbour.
Any woman who recognizes these very important realities is not "of no importance."
That is a beautiful painting at the top of your post Fhina. Thanks for sharing it. I'm glad your son's on the mend. It sounded so frightening.
I've become so Frenchified after six years here than I can't enjoy English choc anymore - it tastes so thick and gloopy - well, all except my favourite Crunchie.
Hi, This is Pouty Lips sister venturing out. Cadbury chocolate from England is the very best. Cadbury chocolate from US is from Hershey's and not the same. How do I know? I did a taste test!! Went to London last year and brought back hundreds of small pieces of Cadbury for my friends and family. We had a taste test. So, when I go to the Caribbean later this week... you will find me in the duty free store buying Cadbury chocolate!!
The world is certainly getting smaller.
Love the first pic. Love chocolate.
Glad for Grizz.
All in all a feel-good posting. Like feel-good.
Those adverts just grow on you. I found the ape one to be a bit bizarre at first but now I could watch it over and over! The kids eyebrows are incredible!! I used to look a bit like that when I was at school, minus the glasses.
CJ xx
Artist Unplugged: You are a big ol' softie, and thank you so much for your care to us - You are so right about your daughter - I am afraid we do not have that same influence over our very forceful teen... I think he has been duly chastened by what might have been, but was not. This is a good thing. He spent time with us on Saturday at the seaside taking photos for school - He would ordinarily have been out with his mates during the day, so this was a real treat for us, and I think we have been brought even closer by events. I hope this was his one and only brush, his close call. Big hugs to you and yours too, AU, you are such a warm, and creative, soul! I shall force your hug on him, before he's even aware of it! it means a lot x
Rob-bear: Hello, bear! Thank you for your wonderful post yesterday, and your research on the subject of our world in Blogdom, which is getting smaller and smaller all the time! You are blobby treasure, Sir!
sallymandy: I am glad you like the painting - It came to me via the medium of Photobucket - There is lots of warm and wonderful art out there, non?! Thank you for asking after Grizz, he is back at school as normal today, my fingers and legs are very firmly crossed!
French Fancy: Salut, madame! I am with you on the superiority of European, and other chocolate, but any port in a choccie storm, as I keep saying, and when I can't get my hands on the good stuff, I will take most substitutes, even Nutella! I never thought the French were very big on chocolate - Considering what I found in their supermarkets, what are your thoughts, FF? x
Auxiliary Girl: Pouty has a sister?! I love it that you love our chocolate, girl - A choccie tasting - You choccie scientist, you! And the Caribbean - I love it too! I would be very anxious about the choc melting over there 'though, such heat! Have a fab vacation, girl, and welcome back over any time!
GB: Glad I had a chance to spread a little feel-good factor, Sir!
Aji: Hellooo! Welcome in, Miriam, and please feel free to come back in any time - The more, the merrier!
CJ: They are quirky ads, and I'll bet you were a very cute little girl at school - Didn't we all have those kinds of glasses when we were little? Thank the Goddess for contact lenses! x
I absolutely love the eyebrows advert. Really glad you blogged it because my wife hasn'tt seen it yet and I never think to check the web for that sort of thing.
From one chocaholic to another.
I'm spreading the love...
