'Philip Treacy (born 26 May 1967) is one of the world's foremost hat designers or milliners.
Born near Ballinasloe in County Galway, Ireland, Treacy was brought up with seven brothers and one sister. He studied fashion at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin.
'Philip is now based in London and has designed hats for Alexander McQueen's white 'Haute Couture' collection at Givenchy in Paris and for Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel. He has been awarded the title of British Accessory Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards on five occasions during the early 1990s.
'In 2005 he was commissioned to design hats for the wedding of the Prince of Wales to the Duchess of Cornwall. The year 2005 also saw the culmination of his work as Design Director for The G Hotel in Galway City, the flagship of the Monogram Hotel Group.
'On 16 February 2006, he launched the collaborative collection 'Philip Treacy for Umbro' at The Royal Horticultural Hall during London Fashion Week.
The collection promised to surprise and excite fashion and sports industries, but proved unsuccessful and lasted only one season. The launch featured modelling from Jasmine Guinness, Erin O’Connor, Grace Jones and appearances from Michael Owen and Tara Palmer -Tompkinson".
Boy George is a famous fan of Treacy's, although whether he's able to wear the designer's wares in his current abode in Wormwood Scrubs is anyone's guess...
Treacy also designed the infamous peacock hat that Sarah Jessica Parker wore to the London premiere of 'Sex and the City'
What I like about Treacy is that his work is distinctive and recognisable. I love how Treacy's hats enhance the look and the self-image of the wearer...They take nothing away...
Treacy's hats do not wear the person who's wearing them, if you know what I mean, as so many hats do... Wearing the wrong hat can put the wearer back into the shadow, and they often fail to live up to the hat...
And as la Fhina is fond of saying, mes bloggy biscuit-barrels, if the hat fits... Wear it proud, my dahlinks!

The latest fashion trend in apparels today is the skinny jeans that give you a lean look. However, if you are unable to get into those, you would also be happy to put on those wide legged pants or trousers that are also hot with the fashionistas. When worn with a short narrow top and a slim fit jacket along with high heel shoes, this combination would look cool and give you that much longed for lean look.

Well, I'm sorry, but as a man I find most women's hats daft. Of course, we do enough daft things on our own, so I shouldn't cast stones, but still.
What I really love about them is that Treacy's hats are designed with total abandon! I think I'll take a bit of the sky and wind it up here, and a tree limb and weave it through! Anything goes, and does!

I wish I could wear hats but I look really naff in them..although I've never tried a bowler hat...maybe I should, I could be eccentric after all?
I remember the hats that Camilla wore at the wedding, one was particular, uh, er, let's say, different. Interesting post....hope you are doing well my lady.

As for PT's hats - how great they are and how wonderful to have the sort of lifestyle where you could wear them and only be looked at in admiration - round here they would put me in the mental hospital

Well as a Brit' I can confirm we love our hats and use any excuse to don one. When I left England I sold the few I had, which included a large designer one, as I knew I'd never need them in Okieland!
Philip Treacy is truly a genius though.

I love hats, I absolutely own too many. I wear them well and have gathered somewhat of a collection. Hats and sunglasses...

I was lucky enough to meet Issy and Treacy at Tullie house when we exhibited the fab exhibition..
Blow had just come out of the Priory and want expected but she was great. I loved the exhibition ...so hard to explain...they both signed a book and philip drew on it for me...

Grace Jones is one of a kind. I admire her spunk. And I also admire funky hats. Did you see that Boy George is now out of the slammer and looking better than he has in a long time?
