Holy Cat-Flap, Batman...
"Holy Snapping Duck Do!
I just got hit on the head with a coal-scuttle and recalled that I have not updated this since Paris Hilton was in jail...
You would not believe how hard it is being waited on hand and foot and generally lounging around, flat-out like a lizard drinking.
Jealous much? Don't be, it was very painful... But someone had to do it!
I am lost in a sea of pseudo-olde-English, following my foray, into the Vale of York, with only your readership as life-preserver, hoping that you haven't found other blogs, just generally being asleep, dreaming and chancing to the servants... of la Crawford's Mansions, of course...
My day sprawls from crawling out of bed at 6.30 to the point where I am begging Grizz to go to sleep or so help me God that kid (known around here as 'The Child from Hell'), will be decorating my wall. I'll call it 'Duct-tape Still Life', and am likely to apply for an Arts Council Grant.
I am not being a whinging Pom or anything, but like never say never...
I absolutely, positively promise I will update you with my nefarious activities as soon as I get a chance.
Truly!
Cats if you don't..."
Go to http://www.aussiebloggers.com.au to make your own, Aussie-flavoured, fresh from the BBQ, bloggy excuses - Seriously, I didn't write all of this, much of it is a drop-down, ticky-box Smorgasbord of delights and Antipodean Wonders!
Always good for a chuckle I find!
By the way, for anyone still hanging around this sorry excuse for a People's Soup Kitchen... York was absolutely fabulous, if a little pricey about the place... I'd place it easily on a par with the more touristy joints in London these days... I also begrudge paying £18 for just three of us to take a peek inside York Minster. Is it me?!
We spent a nice couple of hours -- Grizz whining all the way, bien sur -- in the National Railway Museum, where I loved the opportunity to look behind the scenes at all the Railway memorabilia that they haven't quite got the space to display. Amongst which I found the darkened writing board that was George Stephenson's, wonderfully light-catching Victorian stained glass from a variety of waiting lounges up and down the land, the impressive, but painted, stone portico statues that once graced Euston Station, and an old metal wall-map depicting the Tyne & Wear Metro system!
One is never far from home, wherever one may roam, n'est-ce pas, mes bloggy buttercups?
Home Is Where The Blog Is... and I missed you. I did... Don't laugh... Mwah!

You really shouldn't leave your frilly things hanging out where the cats can get them. They'll tear them to shreds or carry them off to a neighbor's house. That could be weird to try and explain.
Besides, in the role of bratty little sister, I may be forced to wet those bras and throw them in the freezer. ('Cause that's what little sisters do, you know?)

Hi Fhina,
You had me going for a moment there with your antipodean antics! Now, as to York, you might recall reading my post about Hereford Cathedral. They reckon it costs £4000 per day to keep the place open! It may be unfair that some of our churches charge and others just ask for a donation, but what can one do?! I recall paying £12 per person to enter Hampton Court Palace years ago. Its £14 now! Having a good time ain't cheap!
Delightful kitten pawing...now I hope that this play was not done to bait those poor kitties...I have to admit that my dogs...especially the young ones...are tempted by the clothes dangling from the line...so far, I have lost several underthings...and a few t-shirts...
Have fun on your vacation. Lady Fhina <3
I just love your blog! What must it be like living in your head? xo
I trust that is you personally dancing round a maypole in the first picture? Why else was May Day invented?
You remain (with your high inventiveness) a woman of extreme importance.
And who are the people in front of the house, looking as though they could be having us for dinner or...? We're glad you had a great time in York and can recommend it to those of us who have not visited England yet.
It's on my list.
blognut: And there you are, sis'! I've already scared away all my neighbours, so a bunch of cats won't do any harm - But hey you knew that living near to me could turn your mind, right? Look what it did to my two dear sisters - You and Diane!
I had no younger sis' till you, precious, so I am wholly unaware of what they have a tendency to get up to! I recall I and a cousin putting a male friend's denim jacket in the freezer while he was visiting, and filling his pockets with frozen peas! So, I could just imagine what a very imaginative, creative and intelligent Bloggus Brattus could do?! Love to you for a safe and sane week, darling Bloggus xox
Derrick: I think it was being in York, with tourists of all hues and nationalities, that sent me all Aussie uplift at the end of the sentence, Derrick!
And I know what you mean about the cost of upkeep of churches, and I always leave donations - I do; It's just that with the credit crunch and all that, I am trying to be careful and with the church having lots and lots of money really, I do begrudge being charged an entrance fee, when that never happens to me at Sacre Coeur or Notre Dame...
I think England is becoming a very costly place for tourists to visit, Sir... Which means they have less money to spend elsewhere - I was tempted by wonderful shop window displays in York, but bought nothing, for example... x
Cynthia: Kitten porn?! Cynthia! ;) I loved the piccie of the kitties when I saw it, I must admit! Thank you for your fond wishes, my sweet Cynthia - My best to you for a lovely week! xxx
shabby girl: Many, many thanks, Shabstress! And as for my mind, that's covered under the Official Secrets Act - Did you sign that disclaimer on your way in, my dahlink?! xox
jinksy: That is me, Jinks - Totally skyclad, as ever, non?! ;) x
Beth Kephart: You are very kind to me, my blessings to you, Beth K! x
lakeviewer: Do you mean that young man in the fetching pink suit? That's one of my minders, madame! And I can heartily recommend lovely York to all and sundry... I found the locals to be very friendly, helping with directions when we hopped on and off buses, that kind of thing... The food we had out and about was excellent too, and the architecture and very rich history of the city is stunning... A week would not be enough to enjoy its attractions, truly. x
Little award for you at mine x
MatTa: Vous etes trop gentil, ma cherie! Je vous embrasse, tres fort x
Ha...great kitties pic...dancing their own Maypole dance!
So hello lady Fhina! What up yo?
I love your post and your pics and your words and you!!
Yes I love you!!!
:O)
Alicia - Kitties for ever, non?! x
Michelle - Ma belle! Bless you, love you, sweetie pie! xxooxx
nefarious activities?? Do tell! My VC would be the same as Grizz at the National Railway Museum- whining all the way...
who are the couple in the bottom photo? You and Mr Awoni?
Carma: I think by nefarious I meant straying way off the path of my diet... Oh, and a man offering the keys to his hotel room... (...to open a CD wrapper so I could get the singer of the band we went to see to sign the inner sleeve-thingie!!!) What else did you think? x
FF: As if my Mr Awoni could be as delish as that one, FF... No, but the house - That of Amityville Horror fame, I believe, is 'dead' close to mine own! x
